Django in Practice: Architecture, Project Structure, and Best Practices

On February 20, 2026, the second event of the Django Pub educational series took place at Lutsk National Technical University — a practical workshop titled “Django in Practice: Architecture, Project Structure, and Best Practices”, organized by SP-LUTSK LLC.

The event focused on practical approaches to building Django projects in real-world commercial development. Participants explored how to properly structure code, design application architecture, distribute responsibilities across modules, and avoid common mistakes that make projects harder to maintain and scale.

During the workshop, the speakers covered key aspects of organizing a Django project: the difference between projects and apps, repository structure, the thin views, fat services principle, configuration management, environment variables, secrets, logging, migrations, error handling, and basic testing approaches. Special attention was given to best practices that help developers create clean, maintainable, and scalable codebases.

The practical part of the event allowed participants to see examples of what a solid Django project foundation looks like and to better understand common issues that arise at the early stages of development. The workshop continued the Django Pub series as a community-driven initiative aimed at strengthening the local Django and Python community, encouraging knowledge sharing between practitioners, students, and lecturers, and promoting modern web development in Lutsk and the Volyn region.
